Below is the little mining town of Ouray.

Looking down at the town while starting up the winding road.

This part of the road was a little scary but the scenery was beautiful.

The red mountains near Silverton, Colorado.

On a bike ride on the Colorado Trail above Molas Pass at over 11,000 feet.

We really enjoyed the drive south from Black Canyon to Durango. There was a lot of mining done in this area and my grandmother Dunivent's father worked in the mines near Silverton. A good portion of the road is called the "million dollar highway" because they said that the dirt used to build the road probably had a million dollars worth of ore in it. Other people say it's because of the million dollar views and still others say it's because they would not drive the road for a million dollars.
